Australian fresh table grapes are primarily available from late spring through to autumn (November to May). Supply peaks during the hot summer and early autumn months from January to April.
Look for plump, firm grapes with smooth skin that are securely attached to green, flexible stems. A natural white powdery coating, called "bloom," is a great sign of freshness.
Globally, grapes are deeply embedded in historyβancient Greeks and Romans even worshipped dedicated grape gods, Bacchus and Dionysus! Today, roughly 80% of the world's grapes are used to make wine, while only a small fraction is eaten fresh.
